Pastor Howard grew up on a farm in Greenville, Michigan,
where his parents still reside. He received a Bachelor of
Science Degree in Accounting from Ferris State University
in 1980. He then received his Masters of Divinity Degree
from Trinity Lutheran Seminary, Columbus, OH in 1984.

Since his ordination in 1985, he has served congregations

he served as a Hospice Chaplain for a Catholic hospital.

The Pastor's wife, Susan, is an Associate Professor of

also has a part-time practice as a nurse practitioner working at a clinic in Crown Point and with the uninsured in Hammond, IN.

The Buchholz's have three daughters, Rebecca, a graduate of Colorado State University, who, is married and lives in Denver with her husband, Ashwin, who is a computer technologist. They have a six-month old daughter, Ashi.; Carissa, who is wrapping up her sophomore year as a student at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, is pursuing a degree in Natural Resources and Renewable Energy; and Martina, who is completing her freshman year as a Food Science major at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana.

Pastor Howard's greatest loves in the ministry are welcoming people in the neighborhood, teaching, and preaching God's Word. Furthermore, he is passionate about faithful Bible study and meeting the needs of both young and old. It is with great joy that Pastor Howard joins the Living Hope Lutheran Church's ministry for Christ in the Frankfort/Mokena areas.
